The CRIPS group focuses on developing translational and clinical research in critical care, while the SODIR group works in the areas of sepsis, organ dysfunction and resuscitation. There is also a group focused on clinical research on children’s infectious diseases and primary immunodeficiencies. The sepsis research line has participated in establishing new research priorities for sepsis and septic shock and how multifaceted educational intervention improves antibiotic treatment. This line is specially interested on the identification of biomarkers for the early diagnosis and stratification of septic patient. The acute respiratory failure research line published two important studies regarding the use of high flow nasal cannula supportive therapy and weaning strategies from mechanical ventilation.

SODIR has two ongoing funded projects (Health Institute Carlos III). The first study aims to analyze the DNA of the donor and its relationship with the pulmonary inflammatory response and the objective of the second study is to characterize patients with hemophagocytic syndrome.

SODIR is considered as an emerging research group by AGAUR. SODIR also has an important Clinical Research Unit that centralizes all the clinical trials that are carried out in the group.
